Will the Honest Ian Douglas Please Standup

June 24, 2009 · 8 comments

A phone call from a total stranger claiming to be sympathetic to the ridicule and humiliation Ian Douglas is said to be suffering at the hands of Roosevelt Skerrit, has caused the Portsmouth MP to bare his soul in a rare episode of unvarnished honesty for public consumption.

Douglas disclosed in the conversation with a James Alexander, allegedly from New York, that he is deeply hurt by the knowledge that the Prime Minister is in the habit of bad talking him behind his back even though he has given his “heart and soul” to him.

Listen well to the son of the late Michael Douglas and nephew of the late Rosie Douglas expressing his concerns about the dishonourable conduct of Prime Minister Skerrit:

With the release of the conversation on YouTube, and subsequently on the Hot seat on Q95, Douglas has made an about turn. He says he was the victim of a set up by someone with a political agenda at a time when the Dominica Labour Party is poised to win the upcoming General Election.

In an interview with Matt Peltier, Douglas wasted no time to fall back in line:

“The government is on the right track… this is an unfortunate incident … everybody knows I support the Prime Minister… It is unequivocal and no amount of rumour construction and innuendo will change that.

“I want to condemn the person who lured me into making that statement and it is unfortunate that the person who claimed to be James Alexander from New York did not release the conversation in its entirety…

“This was a set up… it is really treacherous for the person to give you their version of the conversation… and I want to condemn the recorder in the strongest possible way…

“Sometimes we take things not in the spirit that they were said I we make statements that were not justified… This was indeed a blunder but I will continue to say that Dominica Labour Party led by the honourable Roosevelt Skerrit is the best thing for Dominica at this time.”

This morning I listened to Ian Douglas on Matt’s show and I could not tell which was more pathetic, Ian’s initial comments or his lame attempt at an Excues/explantionation/condenmnatio/declaration of the continued submission of soul to Skeritt. Some Dominicans, mostly the Skeritt apologists engage in condemning the messengers and not focusing on the message. Let me see whom they are going to attack for this one, now that Trevor their usual suspect has cleared his name… While it is was a bit unethical for whoever that person was to record the man unknowingly to him. That was fine with me. And here is why. This man Ian Douglas in the modus operandi of the labor party mafia family never took responsibility for his own actions; instead he blamed the recorder and played the victim. He sounded so naive and pathetic, is this all we got in Dominica? Our educated class? Zapper is laughing, as Malcolm X would say “By any means necessary” Take the Mafioso out. Set Dominica free!!!!

All the government ministers are under the control of an evil spell. If that is not evil personified then what is? Can you imagine big qualified and experienced individuals can allow a little boy to have them basically making fools of themselves. This is the same Ian Douglas WHO was in Mero a few months ago by one called Osha saying the same things that we heard in the recording. Ian lacks backbone, the guy is spinless and lacks testicular fortitude. That was disgraceful, and shameless. These guys are making our country a clown hall. Poor Dominica. Skerrit must be a big JUMBIE.

Julie, Austrie, Fabien, Walters, Bannis, Williams, McIntyre, Henderson, St.Jean and saverin all would do the same thing. They are just a band of SELF-SERVING CORRUPT INCOMPETENTS. SHAME.

I THINK IAN WAS WILFULLY TRICKED. HE UNKNOWINGLY POURED HIS HEART OUT TO THE FIRST THERAPIST TO COME ALONG. I SAY IAN WAS CARRYING A BURDEN EVEN IF IN PUBLIC STATEMENMTS HE ENSURED THAT HE MAINTAINED THE STATUS QUO. IAN IS SURPRISED THAT WHAT HE THOUGHT WAS A THERAPEUTIC CONVERSATION TURNED OUT TO BE HIS WORST NIGHTMARE.
ANYWAY I STILL SAY WHAT WAS DONE TO HIM IS PURE EVIL. ON THE OTHER HAND IAN IS REMAKABLY NAIVE AND GULLIBLE TO FORGET THAT WE ARE IN AN ELECTION YEAR AND ANY THING CAN HAPPEN. THIS ID DOMINICA BRO WAKE UP.

Ian DOuglas is a disgrace to Dominica.
I experienced his so called Minister in a restaurant one evening
shouting his head off, drunk as a fool and every second word which came out of his mouth started with F and ended in …ing.
Is this what Dominica deserves? Do we have to put up with such incompetence and shame from the people running the country?
I think it is time he stepped down and stop making a fool of our government, or learn to act with the decency, responsibility, tact and diplomacy required of someone in this position. I would like to add honesty but i would then be fooling myself into beleiving that this is at all possible.

This comes as no surprise, as a previous writer indicated this is a common occurence where Mr.Douglas is concerned. Mr. Douglas let’s go back to the Marigot Re-Union of 2007 May, at a place called “FOREROAD” near the rum shop. You were asked the question “Why are you grown and Educated men and women allowing yourselves to be teated so disrespectfully by the Prime Minister? Your answer was “Yes mamm I agree with what you are saying, but if we complain the PM will FIRE us” !!!. Mr. Douglas, I suggest that you and your colleagues who are putting uo with this, put the COUNTRY first and not YOURSELVES. The longer you allow this travesty to continue, the harder it will be to redeem yourselves from the ABYSS you have placed yourself in. Remember Dante’s quote “THE HOTTEST PLACES IN HELL ARE RESERVED FOR THOSE WHO. IN A PERIOD OF MORAL CRISIS MAINTAINED THEIR NEUTRALITY..THERE COMES A TIME WHEN SILENCE BECOMES BETRAYAL
Mr Douglas “THE CHICKENS ARE COMING HOME TO ROOST”!!! BEWARE !!!!

We need to stop thinking of our Ministers and politicians as perfect and remember that they are human. As a result any statements made at a time when state of mind cannot be determined and verified should be taken with a grain or two of our own sea salt! Judge rather on what has been verified, record and service! Integrity and support! Judge not lest we be judged! I think that Ian Douglas has done commendable things in Dominica and is an asset not only to the DLP but his country!! Good luck next election Ian!! We'll be rooting for you next election in your second home!! Even on opposite sides of the political divide!
